The internet might make a lot of promises about restoring your faith in humanity, but this story could do just that. It begins last month when an anonymous user posted a picture of a man dancing at what looked like a concert. “Spotted this specimen trying to dance the other week. He stopped when he saw us laughing.” The heartbreaking image was then re-posted to Imgur, and the fact that someone took so much pride in being so horrible to someone who was just trying to quietly enjoy themselves upset a lot of people. And some of those people wanted to do something nice for the ‘Dancing Man’.
The cause was led by Twitter user Cassandra Fairbanks, who put out a call to find the man so she and her friends could do something special for him.
And it worked. Thousands of people began using the hashtag #FindDancingMan, a large handful of which were women (MODEL women, mind you) who wanted to throw a private dance party, just for him.
As of Friday morning, Fairbanks said she had only a few leads on who he might be, but nothing solid.
Then she was sent this photo of a man who looked just like our dancing guy and was wearing the same wristband.
And lo and behold, it was him. The internet had found the dancing man!
Cassandra, I think I speak for the Internet when I say, Pictures. Take many, many pictures.
